Celebrate the Seaport’s annual neighborhood Chanukah Menorah Lighting at the Seaport Museum with free General Admission and an engaging craft activity for people of all ages.
Aboard the 1885 tall ship Wavertree at Pier 16, families and visitors of all ages are invited to join in the creative fun by crafting your own baggywrinkle, charming maritime-inspired decorations perfect for the holidays, using festive-colored yarn. Baggywrinkle, traditionally made from unraveled ropes, is a ships’ tool used to safeguard sails from damage.
Pop into the Museum galleries and historic ships anytime from 11am–5pm to craft your own baggywrinkle and witness the annual Menorah lighting ceremony on the Heineken Riverdeck at Pier 17, from 3–5pm.

General Admission
Explore all that the Seaport Museum has to offer with free General Admission from 11am–5pm the day of the neighborhood Chanukah Menorah Lighting. General Admission includes access to all current exhibitions on view in the introduction gallery space at 12 Fulton Street and access to the 1885 tall ship Wavertree. Free timed tickets for a tour of the 1908 lightship Ambrose are available separately at no additional cost.
About The Neighborhood Celebration
The Seaport’s annual Chanukah Menorah Lighting hosted by the Jewish Learning Experience on the afternoon of Sunday, December 10, from 3–5pm. All are welcome at this family-friendly holiday celebration, which will include face painting, popcorn, chocolate––including a six-foot-tall chocolate Menorah––and other traditional treats, and a musical performance by the FiDi Hebrew School. The pinnacle of the afternoon will be the traditional Menorah lighting ceremony.
